Bio Sand Water Filters in Turkana
Because of the generous donations of a monthly meeting in North Carolina Yearly Meeting, several bio-sand water filters were installed in the desert land of Turkana, Kenya. Drought has caused the death of many children and adults as well as numerous animals. Recent flooding has its own problems with clean water supply. Lack of clean water means illness that often leads to death. While we cannot make it rain in Turkana, we can dig wells and provide the water of life.
